Design Engineer I - Process

Responsible, as a senior professional, to assist the Office Manager, Group Discipline Leader, Group A/E Principal and A/E Discipline Leader in training and mentoring of staff, development of group and corporate standards, and in the research and incorporation of innovative technologies.
Also responsible, as a senior professional, for the production of innovative, appropriate, and cost effective designs, drawings and specifications in his/her discipline for assigned projects.
DUTIES AS A DESIGN PROFESSIONAL
Participates in project strategy meetings, develops design concepts and recommends systems, within discipline, produces pricing and proposal presentation documents and outline specifications.
Researches and is responsible for discipline design compliance with proposal/client criteria.
Coordinates information and monitors efforts/costs of discipline-related outside consultants.
Creates discipline work plan for assigned projects. Monitors workload status, advising supervisor of difficulties in accomplishing schedules.
Coordinates work with other disciplines. Performs interdisciplinary coordination checks to minimize deficiencies, errors and omissions in drawings and specifications.
Maintains ethics and professionalism.
Reviews applicable shop drawings and submittal data for compliance with construction documents.
Participates as requested in construction inspection to monitor compliance with design intent, construction drawings and specifications. Prepares inspection reports.
Provides timely solutions to field problems and prepares field orders, addenda and record drawings.
Participates in formulation of discipline standards and procedures.
Participates in the professional community and trade organizations within discipline.
Develops and monitors project metrics routinely.
Evaluates and plans - deployment, training, and design.

Excellent ability to communicate verbal and written.
Excellent presentation skills.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Advanced project management and process improvement skills.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) required; AutoCAD experience a plus.
