September through April (variable hours; approximately 2-10 hours/week) The Recreation Activity Instructor is responsible for implementing a program curriculum and leading in the facilitation of sports, games, and/or or other recreational activities as well as assist with various events.
This position will provide an interactive, positive, fun and safe environment for the participants while effectively teaching lesson plans provided by the Recreation Supervisor or their designee.
The Recreation Activity Instructor will assist in the supervision of all program participants and attend to participant questions, and/or the questions of parents/guardians, appropriately.
This position works closely with the Parks & Recreation staff to ensure all department rules and policies are observed.
Qualifications:
Must be 16 years of age upon employment.
Knowledge of wide variety of activities.
Ability to handle difficult people/situations in a courteous and professional manner.
Ability and willingness to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
Strong oral communication skills Ability to maintain a safe and positive learning environment Must be able to work evenings and weekends Must be creative, energetic, highly organized, motivated, dependable, patient and able to maintain discipline.
Must be capable of following directions and have an ability to grasp new skills.
Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to complete paperwork and work well with others from different cultures and backgrounds.
