OBJECTIVE:
Under general supervision and guidance of the Supervisor on Duty, the Ice Arena Skate Host is responsible for general supervision and cleanliness of the Ice Arena.
Skate hosts assist on the ice, in the office and with birthday parties.
(Approximately 4-20 hours per week) RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to:
Supervisor on Duty; Ice Arena Supervisor Works with seasonal employees regularly and communicates with other Division employees, arena patrons, and the general public.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

PUBLIC SKATE:
Skates on the ice providing supervision with appropriate staff attire.
Provides diligent and consistent rule enforcement.
Checks the warming room, bathrooms and bleachers for issues.
Assist the Ice Arena Supervisor in the office as assigned, including handing skates out and proper return storage.
Handles cash transactions and properly accounts for transactions in POS software.
Picks up trash, sweeps area, stocks bathrooms and provides other general maintenance of facility, including:
birthday party room clean up, bathrooms, locker rooms, bleachers and facility as a whole.
Reports any issues to Supervisor.
JETS GAMES:
Reports to area assigned by Supervisor on Duty (bleachers, parking lot, ice sheet, etc.
)Provides diligent crowd control, fan behavior control and consistent rule enforcement.
Provides for cleanliness of facility, including:
trash pick-up, emptying of trash cans, check and clean bathrooms, stock low or empty supplies in bathrooms.
Assists Supervisor with moving goals, lowering nets and picking up pucks.
Provides for a thorough cleaning of facility at game's conclusion, including:
bleachers,walkways, warming room, bathrooms, party room, and locker rooms.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the essential duties of the position.
Education, Certifications and
Experience:
Minimum education and experience required to perform essential duties of the position.
Must be 16 years of age or older.
Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications preferred.
For successful performance in this position, the incumbent will need to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Ability to:
Skate on ice for extended periods of time.
Follow city/department/division policies, work independently and make sound decisions.
Communicate effectively and to follow verbal and written instructions.
Count back change to customers.
Work a variety of shifts to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Maintain a positive behavior and professional demeanor at all times; address resident and customer concerns in a helpful, courteous manner.
Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report all unsafe activities or conditions to supervisor.

Equipment used includes a computer, telephone and ice skatesPHYSICAL FACTORS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by any an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Work will take place indoors in a colder temperature environment.
Working conditions involve occasional exposure to dirt, dust, and moisture.
Perform basic activities, which may include, but not limited to:
lifting, stooping,semi-reaching to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting, turning, and lying on stomach and/or back.
Must be able to sit or stand and move for long periods of time.
See and observe all sections of an assigned area of responsibility, with or without reasonable accommodation.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
